Two Designs

An argument (you could call it an excuse also) that many Darwinists use is:

There isn't any design. "Design" is actually the product of random mutations, and natural selection. Thus, design is an illusion.

This response usually follows a comment like this:

If you just look around you and see all of the beauty and design, you will know that there had to be a creator.

That comment is totally okay. After all, there really is evidence of design when you just look around yourself and see God's amazing creation.

But.

Not an ordinary Darwinist forgets that design is just the end product of mutations and natural selection.

To easily understand and refute the first statement, simply think about design in two ways:

1. Design being how something appears.
2. Design being how something was made.

An example for definition 1 is this:

You go to the zoo and say, "Man, look at those giraffes! Such a complex form! Such beautiful creatures, their design is stunning!"

Somebody turns to you and replies, "Nahh! They look designed, but that's just because of random mutations that made them look that way."

Did you catch the mistake? When that person says the word designed, he/she was using it as in its looks! You see, when you say that giraffes are complex, and must be designed, you could also word it this way:

Those giraffes were built or made so complexly, that their designer or creator must be an intelligent being to design the giraffes.

I mean, who can just, make a giraffe? Nobody...that is, except for God.

When that person tells you they look designed because of random mutations, they could just have said this:

Those giraffes appear beautiful and "designed" but mutations and natural selection make that appearance, so then they weren't "designed".

So in this case, he/she isn't attempting to explain their reasoning on why the giraffes couldn't be made or designed, but rather are misusing the word "design" to try to thwart you from getting down to the point that giraffes are just too complex to "just happen".

Is it beginning to make sense why saying the appearance of something can't always explain the actual make-up of a creature?

When I see a butterfly, I know that it is very beautiful and looks complex and it has design, but the thing that designed it must be intelligent because of its design.

Now, say for example, the humble earthworm. Does it "look" super designed? Not at a glance, but when dissected and explored, even the earthworm is amazingly designed and is a product of an intelligent designer.

Looks are deceiving with animals...and for you as well. People may say discouraging things about your appearance, but remember:

The way your designer designed you is in his image and you are extremely special because of it.

So...come away from this article with confidence, and I hoped I helped you learn something in this article.

If something didn't make sense, or you had a hard time eating all those words, then simply comment with your question, and I will try to simplify it as much as possible for you.

So, without further ado.....

Goodbye!
